For people who read later with Instapaper
Moving from Instapaper? Bring your saved articles to KeepFinding
Instapaper lets you download everything you saved as a CSV file. Bring it here and KeepFinding reads it as it is: what you had not read yet, what you archived and what you starred keep their place, ready to search, sort into lists and come back to.
What comes across
Every link, title and date
Each row of the file becomes a saved link with the title Instapaper had for it and the date you saved it.
Unread, archived and starred
Articles in Unread join your library, those in Archive arrive archived, and Starred ones arrive starred, so a list with the prompt "starred" finds them again.
Your folders become lists
Each folder you made in Instapaper can become a list on Home, holding the articles you filed there.
Covers and summaries
KeepFinding reads each page for its cover and a short summary. A page that is gone keeps its title and link.
Get the file from Instapaper
On instapaper.com, open Settings and, under Export, download the .CSV file. It lists every article with its title, folder and the date you saved it.
Highlights and notes stay in Instapaper, and private items such as forwarded emails have no public page, so they are skipped.
A file can hold up to 5 MB and 5,000 links. An account keeps up to 3,000 links, archive included, and a trial library without an account keeps 80. Links already in your library are skipped, so importing the same file twice adds nothing.
Import it
New to KeepFinding
Choose Import your Instapaper export on this page and create your account.
On the welcome screen, next to Or a whole bookmarks file, choose your Instapaper .csv. The links go in straight away, and your folders become lists.
Pick a few topics you want more of, or choose Skip for now. For covers, open Settings and, under Your data, choose Fill them in.
Already using KeepFinding
Choose Import your Instapaper export on this page, which opens Settings for you. In the app, Settings is at the foot of the side menu (Menu, top left, opens it) and, signed in, in your account menu at the top right.
Under Your data, choose your Instapaper .csv. KeepFinding shows what it found, such as "1,240 links · read as Instapaper export", before anything is added.
Leave Make a list for each folder ticked to turn your folders into lists, then choose the Import button. KeepFinding then reads each page for its cover. You can close Settings part-way; what is left is offered again next time.
Try it first, without an account
Save any link on Home and KeepFinding starts a trial library in this browser. Settings then shows Your data, which takes your Instapaper file up to 80 links. Create your account later and the trial library comes with you.
What you get here
Lists you describe. Write what a list should hold, like "podcasts under 20 minutes" or "youtube videos i never opened". It becomes a row on Home with a page of its own, and the assistant handles the prompts a rule cannot.
Suggestions from what you keep. Name topics you want more of and KeepFinding suggests links for them next to your own, marked Suggested for you.
A reader that remembers. Articles open in a reader where you can highlight passages, and KeepFinding remembers where you stopped.
Save from anywhere. The Save to KeepFinding extension for Chrome saves the page you are on, a link or the links in a selection. KeepFinding also installs as an app from your browser, and on Android it then appears in the share sheet.
Coming from somewhere else?
The same import reads Pocket CSV exports, Raindrop.io exports, Omnivore exports, bookmarks exported from Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge (.html), any CSV with a column of links, and a plain list of links.
Keeping Instapaper as well? Export again later and import the new file: links you already have are skipped, so only the new ones are added.
