Save to KeepFinding: privacy
Last updated September 28, 2026
What the extension handles
Only when you click the toolbar icon, use its keyboard shortcut, or choose its right-click menu, the extension reads the page address and title, the link you clicked, or web addresses in selected text. Other text in your selection is discarded. It does not read your browsing history, cookies, passwords, form entries, or the contents of pages in the background.
Where the data goes
The selected links and page title are passed to KeepFinding at https://keepfind.ing, or to the server you explicitly configure in the extension options. Like other web requests, the KeepFinding server receives your IP address for security and rate limiting, not precise location tracking. The initial handoff uses the URL fragment, which is not included in HTTP requests or referrer headers. KeepFinding clears that fragment after opening the save screen. Saving sends the links to your KeepFinding server over HTTPS (except when you choose HTTP localhost for development).
Storage and retention
Your chosen server address is stored in Chrome sync storage and may sync through your Google account if Chrome sync is enabled. Pending save requests are kept in extension session storage, are valid for five minutes, and are removed when claimed or during later saves after expiry. Closing the browser clears this session storage. The extension keeps no permanent link history.
Saved links are stored by KeepFinding in the account already signed in to the browser, or in a guest library identified by that browser's cookie. KeepFinding fetches saved pages to build previews and may process them with its AI provider, Anthropic, according to your account settings and service configuration. This processing happens in KeepFinding, not inside the extension. You can delete saved items from Archive; uninstalling the extension does not delete your KeepFinding library.
Permissions
- activeTab: reads the current page address and title after you invoke the extension.
- contextMenus: adds the save commands to the right-click menu.
- storage: remembers your server preference and temporarily holds a save request.
The extension requests no access to all websites and injects no scripts into pages. Only KeepFinding and local development pages can request a pending save, and each request is checked against the exact tab the extension opened.
Use and sharing
The extension contains no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. Extension data is used to save and organize the links you choose, not sold, used for advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness. KeepFinding's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Contact and changes
For questions about the extension or this policy, use the developer contact on the Chrome Web Store listing. Do not post private saved links, passwords, or account details. Updates to this policy will be published here with a revised date.
